For anyone over 50 thinking about their next move, there is encouraging news on the Sunshine Coast. The prospect of a home that takes less looking after, with more room in the week for the people and things you enjoy, is well worth exploring.
Encouraging investment close to home
Sunshine Coast News reports that Stockland is investing more than $53 million in shared facilities across Halcyon Coves at Banya, Halcyon Dales at Beerwah and Halcyon Yandina. Clubhouses have opened at Coves and Dales, with more facilities planned through late 2027. The currently planned or approved homes across the three communities total up to 893.
At Beerwah, the new clubhouse brings together swimming, fitness, recreation and social spaces. Yandina’s clubhouse and wellness precinct are expected in late 2027. These details are encouraging, while also making it important to check what is available now and what is still to come.
Start with the life you want to lead
My take is simple: the best next move starts with how you want to spend your days. A smaller home can be a positive choice when it gives you more freedom to travel, see the grandchildren, pursue an interest or enjoy a slower morning.
For some people, having neighbours nearby and shared spaces to meet is a big part of the appeal. Others will prefer a conventional home, a unit or a townhouse. There is no single right answer. The aim is to find a setting that suits you.
Give yourself time to explore
Before committing, visit the places on your shortlist and picture an ordinary week there. How easy would it be to see family? Would you use the shared facilities? Does the home work for your daily routine?
Ask for a clear explanation of the ownership arrangement, ongoing charges, community rules and what happens when you leave or resell. Compare those details alongside the home itself, and have the documents reviewed before signing. A promising lifestyle should also be a practical fit.
Plan your next move with confidence
You do not need to have every answer before starting a conversation. Megan and I can help you understand where your current home sits in the market and think through the timing of a sale, so you can explore your options with a clearer starting point.
There is plenty to look forward to in this next chapter. Taking the time to choose well is part of making it yours.
